Financial Target Planning for a House Cleaning Business

House Cleaning Business - How To Plan Your Financial Targets

If you're wanting to take your house cleaning business very seriously and want to turn it into a highly profitable business, then ideally you should have written a detailed business plan before you started trading.

You'll need to write a business plan if you want to secure some funding from a bank or some other financial institution. However, here we'll discuss planning your financial targets.

#1 Plan backwards. So for example, if you want to turn over £50K in your first year, you'll have to plan backwards of how much you need to turnover each month.

#2 How to achieve this. You now have a monthly turnover figure in mind, so how are you going to achieve this? How many new customers do you need to recruit each month? Are you getting many cancellations? If so, why? How can you cut back on cancellations and gain more new happy paying customers?

#3 The service. Are your cleaners doing their upmost professional job? Are you recruiting new customers through word-of-mouth because your service is so good? If not, why not?

#4 Evaluating. After the first 4-6 months you need to sit down and re-evaluate your financial targets. Are you on target? Are you making the necessary monthly turnover to reach your £50K goal? If not, why not? What is working and what is not working?

Of course there are going to be slow periods within the year where people are not thinking of hiring cleaners or that money is tight (just before and after Christmas for example).

However, you always need to be one-step ahead of your competitors and are always thinking of new innovative ways to market your house cleaning business.

It is a case of constant monitoring, evaluating, assessing and taking action.

House Cleaning Flyers for Maximum Profit

If you're running you own house cleaning business and need to give your advertising a boost, then you'll definitely want to invest in some house cleaning flyers.

Why Flyers Are So Effective?

House cleaning flyers are the number one promotion tool to get more paying customers. I know this first-hand as I used to run my own house cleaning business and it was the flyers that brought in the most customers heads above all the other forms of advertising that I've done, including the Yellow Pages.

House cleaning flyers are so effective as they are a form of 'direct marketing'. Direct marketing is when the advertising is literally pushed in front of the customers' face so they have no other choice but to read your advertising message.

So the best way to get your message across is to have your flyers pushed through your chosen prospects' letter box and landing on their door mat. They mightn't ring you straight away, many people put them to one side and ring you a few weeks or even months down the line.

What To Expect:

I would recommend you put them out on a weekly basis by the hundreds if you can. If you could hire someone to do this then that would be ideal. Here's what to expect from your house cleaning flyer campaign:

Put out 200 flyers (approx. 3 hours)
Result in 2-8 inquiries
Result in 2-3 new customers

Now if you do this every week, then you'll be getting new customers on a regular weekly basis. If you doubled this then you'll obviously double your customer base and profit!

What To Put On Your Flyers:

I personally like to have plain and simply flyers. You don't want to clutter the flyers with too much writing and graphics as it makes the person reading your flyers confused and impatient. People literally scan flyers in a nano-second so you need to get your most important information across to them easily.

Have a plain white background and maybe a small graphical header on (of a cleaner for example) so they then know straight away that it's a cleaning service. They will then be thinking of how your house cleaning service with benefit them. So you need to get your benefits across to them quickly.

For example, if you offer a key-holding service, tell them that. If your police-vetted and are trustworthy, then tell them that too. You may or may not want to put your cleaning rate on your flyers, it depends on how you operate your business. Finish the flyers off with a contactable telephone number or even website for further information.
